A Trip Back Through Computer Game History

As a youngster I would devote hours and hours playing personal computer games. It got for the point exactly where members of my family members got so worried that, they began whispering behind my back words like addict and intervention. Being fair to them, at points I did play a whole lot of games. I’m talking nearly 18 hours per day if there was an excellent new release.

I was never worried concerning the quantity of time that I spent playing games. all I had it totally under control and could quit at any time or so I believed. Back in the glory days of laptop or computer games I played every thing I could get my hands on. All genres of games were loved virtually equally apart from real time strategy games, which did and still do have a unique place in my heart.

The game adjusting game for me was Dune 2. Oh my god what a game! It blew my mind they way Starcraft 2 Protoss Build Order need to blow teenagers minds now. I was given the game and initially was not pleased because at the time I was much more into very first individual shooter games like Doom and Duke Nukem. When I grudgingly gave Dune 2 a go, I didn’t back.

I couldn’t get adequate. I had to keep constructing larger and far better based with more turrets. My favourite was to work out the angle of attack from the computer system and construct two rows of turrets and rocket turrets on, which blew the hell out of anything that the enemy could throw at me. The AI of games like Starcraft 2 now stop this from happening, producing games better overall, but I do miss the satisfaction of building impassable turret walls and watching each enemy tank getting blown to pieces, when I banked a lot more and more spice.

I do miss the fantastic old days of getting have the ability to hole up in a space and play a quality game back to back, till it has been completed in every single possible way. As soon as I finished Dune 2 i went back for the begin and completed it using the red family along with the green family. I just had to acquire my hands on their unique and special weapons.
Going back towards the addiction concern. As I stated I was sure that I didn’t have an issue and that I was just a social gamer. This small bit of self illusion was shattered when my parents angrily, barged in to my room 1 Sunday night. It turns out I hadn’t reported for my weekend end job. I honestly believed it was nonetheless Friday night. Needless to say a period of computer game cold turkey followed.

*UPDATE*
Just after writing this original post, out of curiosity, I picked up a second hand copy of Startcraft 2. I used the famous Protoss Build Order and kicked some serious ass. Large mistake, I literally lost a whole week of my life. I popped it into the computer system on a rainy Thursday night and boom the subsequent factor I bear in mind is waking up on Wednesday in smelly clothes and having loads of angry messages on my blackberry wanting to know why I hadn’t submitted my travel post.
